Do small sellers need e-Invoice in 2026?

What the reported rules say, what to check with LHDN and what a simple invoice app can still do.

This is general information, not tax advice. Rules change, so check the official LHDN page or ask your accountant.

What was reported

LHDN has been rolling out e-Invoice through MyInvois in phases by annual turnover. News reports in 2026 say the phase for businesses with turnover above RM1 million and up to RM5 million began on 1 January 2026, and that the exemption for businesses with yearly turnover under RM1 million was raised from RM500,000 to RM1 million from the same date.

What it means for a small seller

If your yearly turnover is under the exemption level, mandatory e-Invoice does not apply to you today. The exemption depends on your turnover, so it can stop applying when you grow.

What to check

  • Your turnover for the relevant year and which phase it falls in.
  • Whether you must issue e-Invoices for B2B sales, B2C sales or both.
  • How long you must keep records (the Income Tax Act requires 7 years).

Where Bizzy fits

Bizzy makes simple PDF invoices and quotations. They are not submitted to MyInvois. Many micro sellers still need a clean document to send a customer, a receipt, a reminder and a record of income and expenses. If your turnover is above the threshold, use MyInvois-ready software for tax invoices and keep Bizzy for ads, customer replies, expenses and everyday paperwork.
